PhD position in biophysical research group (Bielefeld)

We are looking for a candidate with a strong interest in biophysical research, in particular advanced single-molecule based fluorescence spectroscopic and microscopic methods with superior temporal and spatial resolution. We apply these techniques to study biomolecular structures and dynamics. In particular, we are interested in the dynamics of cellular structures and their interplay with external stimuli. The position offered will be in a BMBF-funded junior research group that is located in the physics department and integrated in the chair of “laser physics and laser spectroscopy”.The candidate should have all necessary qualifications for a PhD, be very motivated to work in an exciting and interdisciplinary research field, and fluently speak English. Candidates with different background (e.g. physics, biophysics, chemistry, biology) are encouraged to apply. Experience in microscopic or spectroscopic techniques and/or single molecules will be an advantage. The position is available from October 1st 2009, yet the start date is not fixed.
