As part of the recently announced Science Foundation Ireland (SFI) Strategic Research Cluster (SRC) on Molecular Therapeutics for Cancer applications are invited for a post-doctoral research position on cancer biomarkers & targeted therapies, led by Dr. Lorraine O’Driscoll at the School of Pharmacy & Pharmaceutical Sciences, Trinity College Dublin (http://www.pharmacy.tcd.ie/).
This Post-Doctoral research project will focus on identifying, validating and characterising mRNAs predictive of response to new anti-cancer therapeutic regimes. The functional relevance of such mRNAs as potential new therapeutic targets will also be investigated. This study will involve analysis of an extensive range of cell line models and clinical specimens. The ideal candidate will have experience in molecular biology, electron microscopy, and laser scanning confocal microscopy. Previous experience with molecular beacons would be an advantage.
Applicants should have a strong research record including publications (relative to career stage), and be highly motivated and dynamic. Good communication and interpersonal skills are required, as well as an ability to work within a multidisciplinary team. This is a three-year position with competitive salary, commencing on 1st October 2009.
