Job Description:
1) Independently manage, direct and support all purchases of direct and indirect materials, including services for AMRI, India locations. Ensure availability of material as per plan and comply system requirements.
2) Responsible for source identification, floating of purchase enquiries, obtain quotations and finalize techno commercial proposals. Be able to source, negotiate and procure the plant and machinery, equipments, instruments, lab supplies etc that are required for all departments such as production, QC and R&D.
3) Is responsible to ensure that project purchases like chemicals, solvents, lab supplies etc are based on the budgetary provisions. Work with Finance to establish budgets (material standard cost and inventory). Identify and implement opportunities for improvement vs. budget, tracked via monthly Purchase Price Variance measurements.
4) Is responsible for contract administration, management and review. Ensure all relevant documentation with contractors, consultants, government authorities and other agencies are in place. Be well versed with legal aspects of purchasing, sourcing and contracts.
5) Production Planning and Control: Is responsible for material requirement planning (MRP) based on Sales Plan for local purchases and imports. Ensuring availability of raw material, packing material and other inputs at all times to ensure smooth functioning of production/QC/R&D activities.
6) Controlling material management - stores functioning, monitor inventory (planning and execution of optimum inventory turnover ratio to control cost) and follow up with suppliers, creditor improvement, rate negotiations (negotiate favorable pricing/service and protect with contracts), cost analysis, variance analysis, inventory control, ORM, maintain and develop vendor relations, and BRM.
7) Identify global opportunities, analyze trends and leverage for AMRI’s advantage and understand pertinent markets and economics.
8) Ensure continuous improvement in supplier cost, quality and service by:
a) Reviewing current suppliers – adding and deleting as appropriate
b) Establishing and improving measurement processes
c) Identifying opportunities for process improvement by championing Lean/Six Sigma
d) Implementing sustainable and effective solutions to problems.
9) Cultivate supplier/vendor relationships: capacity expansion of supplier/vendor & new supplier/vendor development. Negotiate with suppliers/vendor to finalize on purchase orders at the best and lowest prices.Mitigate all supplier/vendor related issues.
10) Responsible for different aspects of logistics and commercial formalities such as daily/weekly dispatch planning for different compounds/products, warehousing management in different parts of AMRI, India. Is also responsible for freight rate and transit time analysis, EOU requirements - imports and exports, customs and excise, interactions with freight forwarders and customs clearing agents.
11) Support new projects by identifying and qualifying sources. Secure cost and lead time quotes to support customer bids. Maintain database of quotes and qualified suppliers.
12) Ensure all Purchase Orders are created and placed in a timely fashion. Monitoring PR/PO Status, PR / PO Approvals.
13) Resolve payment suspense issues as they occur.
14) Define Oracle procedures, monitor usage, and conduct end user training as needed.
15) Recommend and implement methods to increase the quality of products and/or services.
16) Support EOU initiatives.
17) Ensure all relevant government regulations are met.
18) Participate in self-development activities and training of others.
19) Exhibit safety awareness and safe work practices.
20) Perform other related duties as may be reasonably assigned in the course of business.
Candidate Profile:
1) BS/BA in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering. Degree/Diploma in Supply Chain, Material Management or related field would be an advantage.
2) Advanced degree (MBA or similar) is preferred.
3) 7 to 10 years of relevant prior supply chain experience (Pharma industry experience is a plus).
4) Prior leadership experience.
5) Experience with ERP/MRP is preferred.
