Position at Unit of Animal Genomics @ University of Liège

The Unit of Animal Genomics (UAG) searches candidates (with or without PhDthesis) to join a multidisciplinary team on a two year project funded bythe Walloon region in collaboration with the Walloon Breeders Association. The objective of the project is to prepare Genomic Selection in BelgianBlue beef cattle. Genomic Selection is used to predict breeding values forimportant traits such as growth, carcass quality, etc. based onapproximately 60000 SNP. These predictions are then used for selectionpurposes. For this project, approximately 300 young bulls from anexperimental station will be genotyped per year. Several phenotypes such asgrowth, feed intake, conformation, and carcass are recorded at theexperimental station. It is planned to add more phenotypes to theexperiment. The project involves collaboration with the experimentalstation for phenotype recording, genotyping and statistical analyses of theexperiment. The UAG(http://www.fmv.ulg.ac.be/genmol/Department/Molecular_Genetics/Molecular_Genetics.htm) is part of the Faculty of Veterinary Medecine (University ofLiege) and is localized in the GIGA (http://www.giga.ulg.ac.be) in theSart-Tilman.Candidates can send their CV to Tom Druet (tom.druet@ulg.ac.be / +32 4 36691 72) and Michel Georges (
