Apply for PhD positions at Katholieke University Leuven

Ph.D Student (Laboratory of Neuronal Communication)
Ref. Nr for application: PhD_PaVe1208
VIB, K.U.Leuven, Center for Human Genetics,
Department of Molecular and Developmental Genetics

Job Description
The Department of Molecular and Developmental Genetics is a vibrant and international research centre where key issues relevant to major human health challenges are tackled. In the laboratory of neuronal communication we are using the power of Drosophila genetics and in vivo functional assays of neuronal function, including live imaging, electrophysiology, electron microscopy and immunohistochemistry, to study the mechanisms of synaptic transmission in healthy and diseased neurons.
Using genetic strategies, and by combining cellular and molecular techniques, you will be involved in the characterization of neurological disease genes critical for synaptic function. You will learn to manipulate fruit flies using genetics, measure electrical activity using electrophysiology and image synaptic components using live imaging.

Profile
Prior research experience and good knowledge of molecular biology and protein chemistry are a plus.
