Post Doctoral position at Center of Human genetics, Katholieke Universiteit, Leuven, PhD student can apply

Postdoctoral Researcher (Laboratory of Neuronal Communication)
Ref. Nr for application: BAP_PaVe1208

VIB, K.U.Leuven, Center for Human Genetics,
Department of Molecular and Developmental Genetics

Job description: The Department of Molecular and Developmental Genetics is a vibrant and international research centre where key issues relevant to major human health challenges are tackled. Using the power of Drosophila genetics as well as live imaging, electrophysiology, electron microscopy and immunohistochemistry, in the laboratory of neuronal communication we study the molecular mechanisms of synaptic transmission in single neurons in order to eventually investigate how neuronal circuits direct complex behaviors.

Using genetic screening strategies, and by combining cellular and molecular techniques, you will be responsible for the isolation and characterization of novel genes critical for synaptic function.

Profile: As genetic screens are large projects, you must be a real team-player. In addition, expert skills in molecular biology, protein chemistry and microscopy are essential, while proficiency in Drosophila genetics and/or electrophysiological analyses are/is a definite plus.

Contact: If you are interested in studying the mechanisms of neuronal communication, and you are a motivated and interactive individual, please send your CV, a letter of motivation and three reference letters to Patrik.Verstreken@med.kuleuven.be.
