Applications are invited for the post of scientist at the Institute of Cytology and Preventive Oncology(ICMR) within September 14th 2009. Post: Scientist ‘D’ (Immunology/Virology) Qualification: MBBS/B.V.Sc/M.Sc.Microbiology/M.Sc. Biochemistry/M.Sc. Life Sciences (all M.Sc. 1st class) with 5 years of experience in tumour molecular immunology, tissue culture, viral serology, viral vaccinology, immunogenetics and pharmaco-immunology.Desirable: M.D. (Pathology, Microbiology, Biochemistry) or Ph.D. in above subjects with 4 years of experience as mentioned above. Knowledge of Computer Applications.Work Requirements: Should be able to provide good leadership in planning and guiding for basic, clinical and applied research programmes using animal models in molecular immunology, vaccinology, pharmaco-immunology with special reference to cervical cancer and HPV and breast cancer.Age: Not exceeding 45 years (Relaxable up to 5 years for Government servants in accordance with the instructions and orders issued by the Department of Personnel and Training from time to time in this regard. The age relaxation is also allowed to SC/ST/OBC & PH candidates in accordance with the orders issued by the Central Government from time to time in this regard.
Allowances as per Central Government Rules are admissible on the above pay scale. Benefit of new restructured defined contributory pension system are admissible as per the provision contained in the Ministry of Finance, Department of Economic Affairs (ECB & PR Division), Notification No.5/7/2003-ECB & PR dated 22.12.2003 effective from 01.01.2004. Private practice is not allowed, however, non-practicing allowance is admissible to medical graduates only as per rules of the Council.

Incomplete/late applications or without postal orders will not be entertained. canvassing by or on behalf of the candidates or to bring political or other outside influence with regard to selection/recruitment shall be disqualified.
Note: (i) Ph.D. or M.D. degree in subject relevant to post shall be treated equivalent to three years experience. (ii) Since it is not possible to call all the eligible candidates for the interview/personal discussion, the applicants will be short-listed for this purpose. The decision of the Director General, ICMR will be final in this regard. Any canvassing by or on behalf of the candidates or to bring political or other outside influence with regard to selection/recruitment shall be a disqualification. Candidates called for personal discussion will be paid 2nd class rail fare by the shortest route on production of documents. The post is with all India transfer liability under the Council.
