Become Junior Researcher at Umea University (Sweden) | Doctorates are eligible

An independent Junior Researcher (‘Forskarassistent’) position in Medical/Clinical Genetics
Umeå University is now accepting applications for a position as assistant professor in the area of Medical and/or Clinical Genetics. We seek a Junior investigator to develop an active and independent research program in the area of human disease genetics. The focus of the research program can be directed towards complex or monogenic diseases in the areas of cancer, cardiovascular disease, diabetes mellitus, neurological disease or other relevant disorders or syndromes.

Duration: 4 years

Eligibility: PhD or Equivalent within 5 years of the application deadline 

Basis for assessment
The candidates will be evaluated primarily on their scientific merits. In addition, the teaching capabilities, although not a requirement, will be considered. Administrative and communication skills together with experience in supervision are also desirable. However, particular importance will be placed on the scientific merit of the candidates and the ranking and final decisions will be based primarily on the research skills documented by publications in international peer reviewed journals and competence of the candidate. The successful applicant is expected to have a solid experience of research in the area of disease genetics focusing at identification and functional studies of disease causing genes.
