COMPUTATIONAL BIOLOGY Group Lead, Pathways and Network Biology @ Pfizer--Sandwich, Kent, UK

BACKGROUND:
Computational Sciences are integral to Pfizer’s strategy to accelerate
the discovery of important new medicines. This is your opportunity to
join a dynamic, innovative team, focusing on the development and use
of novel computational methods and algorithms to enhance the
efficiency and effectiveness of drug discovery.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Leading a small team of Computational Biologists, you’ll identify
novel scientific challenges to develop and apply technological tools
and solutions in the area of network biology and pathway mining.
Liaising closely with Pfizer scientists, you’ll show how these tools
can be used to assist their work and will identify new opportunities
to apply in silico techniques in novel and innovative ways. You’ll
enjoy the opportunity to apply your creative thinking and practical
expertise to the development of a range of technological solutions to
support drug development. This is a computational innovations role
within our global Computational Sciences Centre of Emphasis.

REQUIREMENTS:
As an experienced computational biologist you’ll have expertise in
Pathways and Network Biology, a relevant degree and the ability to
lead, influence and partner with other scientists to make a positive
contribution to a range of projects. You’ll have expertise in one or
more programming languages, such as Java, C#, C++, Perl, and/or Python
You’ll also have SQL experience together with knowledge of Unix/Linux
and Oracle systems.
