Entrepreneurship Development Program on Microbial Pesticides at IARI

PROGRAMME OVERVIEW
Microbial bio-pesticides are the most important tools in pest management. These are highly effective, more specific and are eco-friendly in nature. The microbial bio-pesticides market constitutes about 90% of total bio-pesticides. There is a considerable scope for developing microbial bio-pesticides in agriculture and public health. This course, therefore, aims to empower entrepreneurs on various aspects of bio-pesticide production.

CONTENT OF THE PROGRAMME

Importance of microbial bio-pesticides in IPM along with the history of their development 
Role of individual components of microbial control: Bacteria, Virus, Fungi, Entomopathogenic Nematode and other bio-pesticides in the Indian context 
Isolation, Detection, Culturing, and Screening techniques 
Quality control aspect of microbial insecticides-physical, microbiological, biochemical and bioassays. 
Bioassay standardization for efficacy determination, detection of resistance and utility in pest management 
Biotechnological development in respect of microbial insecticides. 
Regulatory mechanism and legislation for microbial insecticides 
Visit to bio-pesticides manufacturing units, important institutions in and around Delhi 
Who can participate?
Entrepreneurs interested in taking up bio-pesticides as venture; researchers; personnel of State Department; NGOs; Post Graduate/Graduate Science Students.

Outcome: Empowering Trainees towards setting up of own microbial bio-pesticides production units

Number of trainee: Maximum (25) trainees are allowed.
