Programmer / Bioanalyst

Job Description
The Genome Assembly group at The Genome Center at Washington
University is seeking a Programmer. This is an entry level computer
programming position. The successful candidate will work with an
experienced staff to help develop an efficient genome assembly
pipeline.

Job Qualifications
Understanding of Object-Oriented Programming (in C++, Java, but Perl preferred).
Ability to perform well during periods of heavy work load or on short
deadlines, working interactively with bench scientists.
Flexibility and team-orientation are critical; must be detail-oriented
and willing to evaluate the quality of one's own work.
Teachable and a willingness to learn new 'cutting edge' technologies
and research
Education and Experience Requirements
Equivalent of Bachelor's degree in computer programming.
Experience in bioinformatics is preferred but not essential.
Ability to program in Linux (UNIX)-based environments.
Some understanding of database schema design and interrogation.
