The thirteenth biennial conference of Animal Nutrition Society of India (ANSI) on the theme Diversification of
Animal Nutrition Research in Changing Scenario will be jointly organized by the Animal Nutrition Society of India and National Institute of Animal Nutrition and Physiology, Bangalore from 17-19 th December 2009. The conference will focus on identification of national challenges in livestock nutrition and exploring methods and resources to combat them. Looking at the present scenario of animal production in India, an interaction amongst the scientists, teachers of animal nutrition and allied subjects, feed technologists and industrialists at three days conference will be certainly a positive step in that direction.
Theme of the Conference :Livestock production contributes greatly to the sustenance and livelihood of farming community of the rural India. Even in the peri-urban areas livestock farming enterprises are gaining importance due to high demand of livestock products. Growth of Indian economy has given a new impetus to the growth of animal production system by increased purchasing power and health consciousness of the people. The demand for animal products is expected to increase by leaps and bounds in the coming decades. The animal production system is constrained by shrinking land, fodder and feed resources along with climate change to meet the burgeoning demands. The situation throws new challenges to produce quality high value livestock products using limited resources. The feeding system of the livestock has a regional bias for availability of feed resources and some how the balance of nutrients is skewed. The onus lies with the Animal Nutritionists, Physiologists, Bio-technologists, feed industry, farmers and farm managers to accept the challenge of producing high value animal products for the affluent urban consumers and also for the masses. This conference would bring all the stakeholders on a common platform to deliberate and design future action plan to meet these challenges:
