2 PhD positions at Max Planck Society, Germany

Two PhD positions (scholarships) are available in the Interdepartmental Bioinformatics Group at the Max-Planck-Institutes for Biological Cybernetics and Developmental Biology in Tübingen, Germany. 
The PhD students will be affiliated both with the Machine-Learning-Department of Prof. Dr. Bernhard Schölkopf and the Department of Molecular Biology of Prof. Dr. Detlef Weigel, and will be members of the Interdepartmental Bioinformatics Group, led and supervised by Dr Karsten Borgwardt. 
The topic of the first position will be ’machine learning and data mining in bioinformatics’, the central research area of the group. It will focus on machine learning problems that arise in collaborations with the Molecular Biology Department of Prof. Weigel. 
 
The second position is funded by Microsoft Research Cambridge. The PhD student will be working on machine learning in computational biology and will be co-supervised by Dr John Winn from Microsoft Research Cambridge and by Dr Oliver Stegle from Tübingen.
