Dow AgroSciences (DAS) seeks a Computational Biologist to assist in the design of experiments and the integration and analyses of omics datasets. This position is located in Indianapolis, IN, USA. The successful candidate will join the Computational Biology group of the R&D Operational Excellence function and will support all functions within DAS R&D.
Key job responsibilities will include development and application of computational biology, mathematical, and statistical algorithms and software to mine biological datasets. Design of biological experiments, analysis, interpretation and presentation of results are expected, as well as identification and implementation of new quantitative methods that improve the integrity and efficiency of the DAS product development cycle. Topics of interest include inferring accurate biological (metabolomic, proteomic and genetic) networks from large datasets, bioinformatics, proteomics, metabolomics, flux analysis, genomics, epigenetics, transcriptomics, information theory, dynamic Bayesian networks, ordinary differential equations, machine learning, support vector machines, instance-based algorithms, and decision trees.
* The position requires Ph.D. in mathematics, physics, bioengineering, statistics, computer sciences or a closely related field. Two or more years of experience after graduate school is preferable, but not required.
* A solid foundation on analyses of omics data is required.
* Demonstrated ability to write scientific papers is also desirable.
* Strong communication skills are essential along with an ability to collaborate effectively with both laboratory and field scientists.
