Job: scientist to join the Proteomic Core Facility at EMBL Heidelberg.

We are looking for a scientist to join the Proteomic Core Facility at
EMBL Heidelberg. The Proteomic Core Facility provides scientific
support for scientists at EMBL-Heidelberg and its outstations, in the
areas of proteomics and structural biology. We offer services in the
characterization of proteins and peptides by mass spectrometry, for
which we have a range of mass spectrometers and nano-flow liquid
chromatography systems. We also have a strong focus on (1D and 2D)
gel-based protein separation. The successful candidate will be in
charge of protein identification by mass spectrometry and LC-MS/MS.
Upon proven suitability, the candidate may be given additional
responsibilities in lab and project management in the future.

Qualifications and experience:
The ideal candidate should have a Master or Doctoral degree in
analytical chemistry or in one of the life sciences. Experience in
mass spectrometry is required, either in an academic or industrial
setting. The candidate should have a sound knowledge in protein
chemistry, and be computer-literate. Good communication skills and
fluency in English are essential, a working-knowledge of German is
desirable. To qualify for a senior position, 3-5 years working
experience in a similar position is required.

Contract: An initial contract of 3 years will be offered to the
successful candidate. This can be renewed, depending on circumstances
at the time of the review.
