About the Institute
The Central Institute of Fisheries Education (CIFE),Mumbai is a deemed university under the Indian Council of Agricultural Research, New Delhi .The CIFE has been rendering yeoman service in fisheries education and training since its inception in 1961. The Institute’s headquarters is located at Mumbai and has four regional centres located in different parts of the country. The Institute imparts post graduate education in all major disciplines of fisheries and offers training and consultancies in fisheries and related disciplines.
Eligibility for training
Aspiring entrepreneurs, professionals, officials, students, researchers and others engaged in fisheries sector, preferably graduates with field experience, can apply.

Ornamental fish breeding and culture from 19-28 August, 2009,for a period of 10 days by Dr.Archana Sinha at Kolkata Centre.
Brackish water finfish and shell fish farming techniques from 4-10 September, 2009,for a period of 7 days by Dr.G.Venugopal at Kakinada Centre.
Scampi hatchery and culture technique from 21-27 October, 2009,for a period of 7 days by Dr.G.Venugopal at Kakinada Centre.
Fish processing and marketing from 4-13 November, 2009,for a period of 10 days by Dr.H.Pailan at Kolkata Centre.
Fisheries co-management from 12-21 November, 2009,for a period of 10 days by Dr.P.S Ananthan at Mumbai HQ.
Value added fishery products from 14-23 December, 2009,for a period of 10 days by Dr.P.Sardar at Kolkata Centre.
Aquatic environmental management from 2-8 february,2010 for a period of 7 days by Dr.C.S Purushothaman at mumbai HQ.

Application
Application on plain paper in the given format is to be sent at least one month before the start of the programme directly to the concerned Course Directors and for each programme separate applications should be sent. Those candidates who are interested to undergo training at Regional Centres may forward their application directly to the Scientist In Charge of the concerned Centre. In service candidates need to apply through proper channel.

Medium of instruction: English and Hindi
Fees
Course fee payment should be made in the form of Demand Draft (DD) drawn in favour of “ICAR Unit ,CIFE, Mumbai” payable at State Bank of India, Mumbai. The demand draft should be submitted along with the application form.
Boarding and Lodging
Accommodation will be provided to outside participants during the period of training. Food will be available in the students managed mess. The boarding and lodging charges will be about Rs.125 (Rupees one hundred and twenty five only) per person per day which are to be borne by the participants. No accompanies are allowed.
Travel cost
Travel cost should be borne by the participants.
Foreign participants
Candidates for the training must be sponsored by the home countries and by the sponsoring organization. Application form with detailed bio data, passport number, travel plan etc to be sent to DDG (Fisheries) ICAR, Krishi Anusandhan Bhavan II, Pusa Road, New Delhi -110 012 with a copy to CIFE, Versova, Mumbai - 61 for information. Training fee will be $ 100 per candidate. On campus stay and food will be about INR 200 (Rupees two hundred only) per person per day. Accommodation will be provided at the campus.
