Madras Veterinary College at TANUVAS has been identified as one of the node in BTIS Network which was established during 1990-91 to cater to the needs of scientists of Veterinary, Animal and Fishery Sciences in the field of Bioinformatics and Biotechnology. The BTIS at TANUVAS has emerged as a very sophisticated scientific infrastructure for Bioinformatics involving state-of-the art computational and communication facilities.
Bioinformatics centres are the interface of Information Technology and Molecular Biology. The major thrust of the Bioinformatics Centre at Madras Veterinary College is to deal with the recent developments in the field of Bioinformatics, Veterinary and Fisheries Sciences in addition to creation of databases and related works.

Eligibility
1. Master’s degree in Veterinary Sciences /Animal Sciences / Agricultural Sciences and Allied Sciences
2. Working not below the rank of Assistant Professor and equivalent in the concerned subject under Agricultural University / Veterinary University / ICAR or allied institutes.

Travel
The host institution will bear the travel expenses of the trainees by the shortest route as per their eligible class of travel, which would however be restricted to the maximum of II AC by train or bus as per ICAR norms.
Accommodation
Lodging and boarding will be provided in the Teachers’ Hostel. Responsibility of accommodating the family members, if any, (including their care) will be entirely of the participants.
Location and Season
Chennai is well connected by Air, Rail and Roads from all major cities of India. The temperature during the month of September will be around 30-34°C.
How to apply?
The participants are requested to fill in the registration form and send it through proper channel along with the payment in the form of a demand draft for Rs 50.00 in favor of The Course Director, ICAR Winter School, so as to reach him on or before 03.08.2009. However, they may send an advance copy directly. The selected candidates will be informed individually. The participants are requested to keep in contact with the Course Director (after the due date) regarding their selection status and make necessary advance travel bookings. The participants are requested to undertake journey to attend the training only after confirmation of their selection.
