Winter School on Eco-Friendly management of pests and diseases in rice and rice based cropping systems

Practical sessions covering collection and identification of insect pests, diseases and weeds, isolation and culturing of rice pathogens, mass rearing of pests, inoculation methods of different pests and pathogens and damage scoring.
Venue: Directorate of Rice Research, Rajendranagar, Hyderabad-500 030, Andhra Pradesh.
Duration: 21 days, September 15 – October 5, 2009
Lodging, boarding and travel expenses: Board and lodging facilities will be provided free of cost to the participants at DRR campus. They are requested not to bring their family members as the accommodation is strictly meant for trainees only. No DA will be paid by the organizers to the participants. The participants deputed for the training will be provided travelling expenses only as per their entitlement but restricted to 2nd AC rail fare by the shortest route after submission of original tickets.
Application and registration: Interested candidates may send their application in the prescribed format enclosed, duly recommended by the competent authority to the Course Director along with a non-refundable registration fee of Rs. 50/- in the form of IPO/DD drawn in favour of Project Director, DRR payable at Hyderabad.
How to reach
Hyderabad is well connected by rail, and road from all parts of the country. The participants are advised to reach a day earlier to the commencement of the programme. An auto/taxi could be hired from railway station/bus stand to reach DRR via Afzalganj, Bahadurpura, Rajendranagar and VDO training centre or by availing the APSRTC bus services on route Nos. 94H or 94R from Koti (opposite Osmania Medical College) or 94S/7 and 95S/7 from Secunderabad railway station to Rajendranagar. In case of emergency, participants may contact Course Director/Project Director/Administrative officer on telephone for necessary guidance. The climate is pleasant and temperature at Hyderabad during September and October ranges from 22 to 32 0C.
